Philip started his journey into
traditional medicine at the tender age of 16, when he was attuned to
Reiki level 1. In a teepee. In middle of the Forest of Dean. As you
do.
When he was 19, he went travelling to the far eastern country of
Thailand, where he spent a lot of time relaxing on a beach. But as
well as this, he also took a course in Thai massage, which he
thoroughly enjoyed, and when he
returned from his travels (beautifully tanned), he endeavoured to
make traditional medicine his career! But which one?
He attended his local natural therapy fair in the spring of 2003 to
have a jolly good chat with the traditional medicine folk of
Worcestershire. Whilst he was there he saw a talk given by a very
nice lady on the wonder that is ACUPUNCTURE. He was intrigued. 3
weeks later he started on an acupuncture course.
As you do.
The South West College of Oriental Medicine in Bristol was to be his
first training ground, and the beauty and simplicity of Chinese
Medicine unravelled before his very eyes. He was hooked.
After two years of study, a series of very unfortunate events
occurred. Firstly, he was diagnosed with cancer. Secondly, his
acupuncture college went into administration. Oh dear.
Fortunately, after a simple operation, an intensive course of
acupuncture which helped improve his general health and kept his
sanity largely intact, and a rescue attempt from the marvellous
Northern College of Acupuncture in York, things got back on track.

He continued his study at the Northern
College for a further two years, gained his Certificate of
Acupuncture Practice in the August of 2006, and in the April of 2007
went on to gain his Diploma of Acupuncture. Phew. Private practice
ensued in Worcester. Then York. Then he taught for a year at the
Northern College as a points tutor, regional tutor and private
tutor. Then for some unbeknownst reason he decided to throw it all
in and go
to live a life on the ocean waves.
His first contract was onboard P&O’s Ocean Village - “the cruise for
people who don’t do cruises”. Hmm. Despite the connotations it
proved to be thoroughly enjoyable, and a perfect training ground for
developing seminars. 4
per week. Every week. For 8 months. And he came back with another
fantastic tan.
His second contract he moved up in the world. He went to work for
Canyon Ranch onboard the prestigious and salubrious Queen Mary 2.
Seminars refined and perfected. Only 2 per week necessary this time.
Clients from all over the world, including the occasional celebrity.
Nice.
Now he’s embarking on his present journey. He has hung up his
sailor’s cap and opened up a beautiful, brand new clinic in the
heart of the north Oxfordshire countryside As is befitting a truly
British gentleman and his needles.
Come and see him.
He’s very nice. |
